Products I Love

Hair Care

I have been using Giovanni Organic Cosmetics for 3 years now. I have always had trouble finding the perfect regimen for my hair because I have a more oily scalp. There are a variety of hair products to choose from but the shampoo that has most helped me is:
When it comes to styling then I use

Make-up

This is such an important thing in my beauty regimen. I have had such a hard time since I was 16 trying to find the perfect make-up that would not irritate my skin or cause pink eyes. Until college, I really did not choose my cosmetics based on ingredients but mostly on what would not irritate my skin. I really did not know at that time between 16-20 that the real problem happened to be what preservatives were added to the make-up.

Clinique worked for me for a while but then I started reacting to it. I purchased make-up from Lancome and Elizabeth Arden, but none really worked for me. To think of all that money spent! You know what really scared me? After years of using generic lip gloss, a mole formed on my lower lip. I did a lot of investigation and realized that it had to to with the horrible preservatives in cheap make-up, well specifically the petroleum.

I knew then that it had to be any make-up that had any
  • Paraben preservatives or alkyl-p-hydroxybenzoates (methyl, propyl, butyl, and ethyl)
  • Propylene / Butylene Glycol (PG)
  • Lauryl sulfate(SLS), Sodium laureth sulfate(SLES)
  • Phthatale family or di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) and di(2-ehtylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)
  • Amine family Diethanolamine (DEA), triethanolamine (TEA), amonoethanolamine (MEA)
This is just a short list too! I finally honed in on cosmetics that were perfect for my skin, lips, and eyes. Dr. Hauschka seemed very attractive when I read up on the originof the company and all the ingredients it contained. It was all natural and developed in Germany. If anything, I knew European companies banned certain ingredients to even be found in their cosmetics so I was very comfortable knowing this was going to be a great choice.

I pretty much tried everything in their line, from eye make-up, to foundation, to cleansing products, down to their haircare and skin treatments. Their products are pricey but when I saw how my skin simply LOVED the product I knew it was a permanent regimen. My permanent daily products are:

I used to use their Lipsticks but I found another company called Hemp Organics that offer 32 different colors. What can I say? I like variety. I have used this company for 2 years and I am still going strong! Their lipsticks are

•Made with Hemp Seed Oil and Organic Beeswax

•Made in the USA, No F,D, and C Dyes

•Lead Free Lipstick * see below

•Petroleum Free, Wheat Free and Gluten Free**

Oral Care

For the past 4 years I have been using JASON® products. I really like their PowerSmile® Enzyme Brightening Oral Care and mostly buy the Vanilla Mint Toothpaste. Their toothpastes do not contain the following:

•No Fluoride

•No Sulfates

•No Preservatives

•No Propylene Glycol

•No Saccharin

•No Artificial Flavors or Colors

•No Animal By-Products or Testing

Body Care

I have tried numerous products over the years depending on where I live or what is available. Since I moved to Michigan I have been purchasing my soap from a local farmer who makes wonderful soaps using essential oils and herbs . Their company, Bob's Wife's Soaps, handmake their soaps, using natural essential oils, (aromatherapy), naturally grown herbs, saponified coconut, & olive oil, beeswax, and other ingredients. They hand cut & stamp their homemade soap with their own unique symbols.
I usually get this at the Farmer's Market during the summer. During the winter, I tried a new soap I found at Whole Foods Market, called One With Nature, that uses Saponified Palm and Palm Kernel Oils, Vegetable Glycerin, Shea Butter, Dead Sea Salt, Citric acid, Salt and Vitamin E. My skin is left so soft and no itching occurs. I love it!

For lotion I simply use Gionvanni's Hydrate Cassifluer White Tea Body Lotion.
