About Me

Thank you for visiting Opera Singer in the Kitchen where I document everything about life, family and babies, music, recipes and reviews. I love creating delicious NEW creations and recipes on a daily basis and while while there is a huge archive of vegan recipes, I post a variety of recipes for all eating lifestyles.

I am a mother of two precious dolls, who are currently 15 months apart and while they keep me busy and on my toes, I am blessed to work from home while I take care of them. I currently sing nursery rhymes to them in operatic-style to keep my voice healthy and am teaching my oldest to sing hymns, keep beat and pitch.

We are a musical family and by that I tell you a little about our family. My husband and I met during our undergraduate music studies in Texas and while we did not date while we were in school my husband asked me out after he completed his masters. Five years later and 2 children he now has a Doctorate in Choral Conducting and is a talented choral conductor and instructor.

The nice thing about our family is that we also are foodies. Even though I do most of the cooking, my husband focuses on perfecting deep-dish pizza or some other Italian dish despite his Irish background. The best thing about being foodies is living in a city that has great places to eat.

We have grown accustomed to the city of Philly and its outskirts, since moving here last year in 2012. We have gotten to know our area, even though there is so much more to see. We love traveling despite having small children. Keep your eyes peeled because you'll be seeing some posts about Disney in the coming months! So excited! We really do not let anything get in our way of seeing new places but sometimes the cold weather can do that on its own.

Stay for a bit and read. Enjoy one of my desserts over coffee and get to know us a bit. Thanks for visiting!

I am confused. You said that you became vegan after reading Alicia Silverstone's book, but your recipes have meat in them. Particularly, beef and turkey.sw

@Anonymous-Thanks Anonymous for noticing, I still have recipe from before I became a vegan. If you notice the dates, it showd you when those recipes were made. Hope you will come back and see that I continue cooking vegan.

very cool page! I have been an ethical vegan for 6 years and have worked at a very large opera house on the west coast for the past 10 years. I love telling singers how their voices will improve from cutting out dairy!
