About Me

Thank you for visiting Opera Singer in the Kitchen where I document everything about life, babies, music, recipes and reviews.

I love creating healthy and delicious recipes and even some decadent recipes that sometimes one has to indulge. While there is a huge archive of vegan recipes, I post a variety of recipes that are either vegetarian, gluten-free, or even have meat.

While this website did start focusing on vegan foods and vegan substitutes, I am no longer following a vegan lifestyle. After I got pregnant in 2011, I had a lot of food aversions and had to give up a lot of foods and focus on meat. It was definitely a personal decision and one that was difficult but that had to be made. I was flexible with myself, not putting pressure on myself to go back to veganism after the baby was born. I did not return. I still create vegan recipes because I enjoy it and because it gives us a break from meat but I am not a strict vegan.

Something else you will see are reviews and giveaways. I enjoy trying NEW products and reviewing them so if there is ever an interest let me know by email!

A little more about myself: I am half Chilean and half Mexican and grew up most of my life in Texas. I am a certified and registered pharmacy technician and currently work from home by day and I am a writer and photography by night and weekend. :-)

I chose the title of Opera Singer in the Kitchen, because I love to sing and I love to perform when I get a chance. I hope to share a little of my musical taste along with my kitchen creations.

I am confused. You said that you became vegan after reading Alicia Silverstone's book, but your recipes have meat in them. Particularly, beef and turkey.sw

@Anonymous-Thanks Anonymous for noticing, I still have recipe from before I became a vegan. If you notice the dates, it showd you when those recipes were made. Hope you will come back and see that I continue cooking vegan.

very cool page! I have been an ethical vegan for 6 years and have worked at a very large opera house on the west coast for the past 10 years. I love telling singers how their voices will improve from cutting out dairy!
